Curved Roof Structure of Timber and Steel
Strong Connection for Cork Airport
For the construction of a new terminal building at Cork Airport in Ireland, Brüninghoff was commissioned with the complete realization of the roof structure, which is predominantly made of steel. The client, Poppensieker & Derix, selected the specialist in timber and hybrid construction because Brüninghoff provided both the expertise and the capacity in steel and timber construction required for this exceptional project. Brüninghoff was responsible for the design, production, and on-site assembly of the load-bearing roof structure. In addition to installing 1,800 tonnes of steel, the team also mounted 45-meter-long glulam beams – seamlessly integrating both materials.
