Pioneering Timber Construction in Canada
Timber Columns for Residential Project in Toronto
With “1925 Victoria Park”, a flagship project for sustainable and affordable construction is being developed in Toronto. Commissioned by the Serotiny Group, Brüninghoff is responsible for manufacturing columns made of glued laminated timber (GLT) and BauBuche (a high-strength beech laminated veneer lumber, LVL), while simultaneously contributing to knowledge transfer in the field of modern timber construction. The scope of services also includes the delivery of GLT beams, which are used as ribs in timber–concrete composite floor slabs.

Sustainabilty on track: We don’t have to, we want to.
Brüninghoff Group publishes Sustainability Report 2024 — voluntarily
Brüninghoff is publishing a comprehensive sustainability report for the first time. Although the group is currently not required to report under the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), it has deliberately chosen to take proactive steps. The report shows how the Brüninghoff Group is making a positive contribution to the environment, society and the economy through targeted measures and investments—and also where there is still room for improvement.

Brüninghoff @ WCTE 2025
R&D results on glued wide-span timber trusses
The World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE) is where research meets practice. Frank Steffens, CEO and Managing Diresctor at the Brüninghoff Group, and Dr. Jan Wenker, Group Director Sustainability & Innovation, were in Brisbane, Australia, to discuss latest developments and innovations.
Dr. Jan Wenker introduced new possibilities for wide-span timber trusses.

An opportunity, instead of an obligation
Despite EU plans: Brüninghoff believes in sustainability reporting with specific objectives
Brüninghoff Group resolutely speaks out against the plans of the European Union to relax the rules for companies in relation to mandatory reporting. While the EU intends only to make sustainability reporting compulsory in future for companies with more than 1,000 employees, Brüninghoff is strengthening its commitment to comprehensive sustainability objectives and transparent reporting. “Our sustainability efforts are not only motivated by legal requirements, they stem from a deep-seated business conviction” explains Frank Steffens, CEO and Managing Director at Brüninghoff.

Conscious innovation management at Brüninghoff
Strong innovation team
Innovations are often decisive for success and can also be the key to a sustainable corporate strategy geared towards the future. At Brüninghoff, this notion is not only firmly anchored at strategic level, it is also anchored at personnel level. The company has recognised that continuous development of new ideas and technologies is decisive for remaining competitive in a fast-changing world. Brüninghoff is further consolidating and expanding its position as pioneer in the construction industry based on systematic innovation management.

Recyclable timber-concrete composite construction
Sustainable TCC slab panels that can be removed
Environmental awareness and reduced CO2 footprint: timber-concrete composite elements unite these aspects by using less concrete. Brüninghoff also has an unwavering commitment to sustainable handling of resources. To enable the hybrid slab panels, which are now established in the construction process, to be used in a second lifecycle, the connectors have been redeveloped and the notch has been optimised so they can now be entirely removed and recycled. This makes it much easier to reuse the entire element and accurately separate the materials timber and concrete for subsequent use.

Credible environmental information
Brüninghoff provides EPDs for its components
EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) are used to appraise the sustainability of construction products. In addition to technical details, these environmental product declarations highlight information about the ecobalance in particular and serve as the basis for integral planning. Brüninghoff is setting new standards for timber-concrete composite slab panels and other precast concrete units at the precasting plant in Heiden in this context and now also provides corresponding EPDs. This means that project participants have an important pool of information at their disposal for carrying out qualified analyses of the environmental impact of timber-concrete composite flat and ribbed slab panels and prefabricated columns and walls.

Timber and steel in Motion
Project in Denmark
Brüninghoff is delivering a complex hybrid structure made of timber and steel. The wave-like architecture requires precise engineering, high-quality prefabrication, and expert assembly on site.

Residential tower HAUT shines bright
Project in the Netherlands
The HAUT residential tower in Amsterdam sets new standards in building with wood. This is because the load-bearing structure of the 73-metre-high building consists of concrete and large amounts of timber.

Wave goodbye at Cork Airport
Project in Ireland
For a new terminal at Cork Airport, Ireland, Brüninghoff delivered a distinctive roof structure that combines steel and timber in a technically and architecturally ambitious design.
