Day care centre dedication

Zero-emission and carbon-neutral

The world’s first energy-optimised “EcoCommercial Building,” built by the Bayer Group, was opened on November 7, 2009 after only eight months of construction: a day care centre in Monheim / Rhine.

In April, Bayer Real Estate GmbH awarded an order worth 2.3 million euros to Brüninghoff GmbH & Co. KG for the construction of a carbon-neutral day care centre. More than 250 guests attended the ceremonial dedication, including leaders from the fields of politics, society and the Bayer Corporation’s board.

The energy concept and the architecture of the Monheim day care centre allow the building to be operated with zero emissions. During construction, high-quality materials from the Bayer MaterialScience subgroup were used, among others. The day care centre is one of ten showcase projects to be awarded the “Energy-Optimised Construction 2009” award from the German Federal Ministry of Economics.
