Girls' Day 2010: Seven girls from a local school visited Brüninghoff to get a glimpse of professional life.

Interesting insights about skilled occupations

Heiden, 4/26/2010. For one whole day, seven girls from a school in the Münsterland region learned what it was like to work for one of Germany’s leading industrial building construction specialists. As part of Germany’s tenth annual “Girls’ Day” on April 22, 2010, Brüninghoff GmbH & Co. KG in Heiden gave the inquisitive girls some interesting glimpses of skilled occupations. German Chancellor Angela Merkel sponsors the campaign.

Since 2001, school-age girls throughout Germany have been able to explore exciting careers in the fields of technology, IT, skilled trades and natural sciences. During this time, 12,588 spots were offered and arranged in Germany – seven of them with Brüninghoff, a medium-sized family company in Heiden. Here the girls found a large number of workshops and specialists, which allowed them to choose an area that truly interested them.

The following school-age girls took advantage of “Girls' Day 2010” and explored the professional world with Brüninghoff: Jacqueline Küper (electrical), Eva Lichtendahl (metalworking), Kim Looks (concrete construction), Theresa Pütter (aluminium construction), Leonie Rohring (carpentry), Michaela Söpper (carpentry) und Jasmin Thiehoff (warehouse).

“We have been supporting Girls’ Day for ten years now because we believe it is important to promote the new generation of workers,” says Sven Brüninghoff, a General Manager and partner at Brüninghoff GmbH & Co. KG. “Especially in the skilled trades, women have been relatively underrepresented in the past – so we want to help them experience the exciting, interesting aspects of these occupations up close.”
